Since 2011 W11 Opera has offered a workshop programme to local authority schools.  The Opera actively builds partnerships with community schools to encourage non-traditional applicants and to ensure that the Opera remains a dynamic and diverse organization that reflects the social and cultural richness of contemporary London society.

In 2011, W11 Opera introduced its workshop programme, holding sessions in three primary schools and involving over 70 9-11 year olds.  By 2015 we had doubled the number of participating schools and developed workshop content with a professional singer/educator based on the piece currently being produced.  The hour long workshops are fun and participative, and all children and young people who participate are invited to a free Community Performance of the opera with parent chaperones and staff so that the young people will be encouraged to engage with W11 Opera in the future, either as cast or audience members. Both the children and their teachers reported that the workshops greatly enhanced their enjoyment of the production.

In 2015, W11 Opera developed 3-4 “Loud in the Library” family workshops with the Hammersmith and Fulham Libraries  These workshops introduce W11 Opera and its work to  families and make contact with potential cast members.
