Carmen at Opera Holland Park, June 2010
The profile and achievements of Opera Holland Park are now well known and W11 is proud to have been involved in at least one production every year for the last ten years with this local council run company where “Really, the feel-good factor is so high it should register on the Richter scale.”
This year saw a selection of W11 cast members dressed as young urchins enacting mock bull fights, teasing soldiers and generally strutting their stuff in Bizet’s Carmen. Singing in French and sharing the stage with operatic stars such as Sean Ruane and Tara Venditti, an Evening Standard reviewer particularly noted the young and was impressed with ‘well-drilled kids enjoying their time on stage’.

Community performance of The Whale Savers
This year W11's Community Performance took place once more at Riverside Studios. There was a full house with many attending from a wide range of local schools, together with a number of organisations including the Mousetrap Theatre Project, Sheppard Trust and Camphill Community. All those invited enjoyed afternoon tea before the show and received a programme as a souvenir of the afternoon.
What the audience had to say:
The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the performance. One child said to me at the end, ‘Is that the end, Oh I didn’t want it to finish.’ I think that sums up their enjoyment.……hopefully a child from Addison could be performing next year too!

It was very challenging music and the young people who sang it were excellent.

Thank you so much for the show last night. Jenny and I enjoyed the evening very much. Jenny was singing "salvete" to the captive audience on the tube home!
